THE HALF BLOOD HILL TEST DRIVE MEME

The Test Drive Meme
A chance to test out character voices in an in-game setting before playing with them!
Who: Campers from all pantheons!
What: Wintertime tasks!
When: Sometime in December.
Where: Camp grounds.
1. It begins with snow. An unusual amount of snow.
Just because we've got a bubble around our happy home to keep our temperatures moderade doesn't mean that we're totally protected from cold weather. We've still got strawberry deliveries to make and paths to clear in the woods and by the entrance. Grab your shovels and hop to, children. Watch out for the ice.
2. The care and keeping of your monstrous magical creatures.
Grooming, feeding, exercising and, yes, cleaning up after - you've got your pick among friends such as Mrs. O'Leary and Hannibal in the arena, pegasi in the stables and others. Watch your step. No, seriously, watch your step.
3. Love our nymphs.
(Not like that.) Help them out during mealtimes, serve apple cider during the day, wash dishes after all is said and done. Others can wrap little trinkets and get to crafting in the Arts and Crafts Cabin to show your appreciation to those who work so hard to keep us fed.
4. Don't trust the mistletoe.
Some of you may remember waking up one morning to find yourselves underneath red berries and green leaves with a special someone or three. Well, Hecate will have none of that today. Whatever mistletoe we have left will leave you momentarily disoriented and walking yourself in circles as the camp seems to rearrange itself under your feet. Your task is to avoid or get rid of the pesky sprigs as soon as possible.
5. How much wood can a camper chop -- ?
With all the fire starters in camp, we should probably keep a steady supply of firewood, especially for the next bonfire. Try not to show off too much, hmm? You should also probably be careful which trees you choose to chop down because our nymphs can be sensitive about these things. Tread lightly.
6. I do what I WANT, Mr. D.
Finished with your tasks? You're now free to roam the camp as you please. (Shirking your responsibilities? Watch your back.)
audrey horne ✛ twin peaks ✛ daughter of hermes
so yes, she might have responsibilities. but does audrey actually intend to do any of them? it's not entirely likely, no. besides: it's too cold to work! she could get a chill and we wouldn't want that, would we? that's just irresponsible on behalf of everybody.
so audrey can be found wandering the camp, observing the snow and dodging anyone who might see her slacking off and call her on it (she's super good at hide and seek, okay; you will never find her behind one of the trees), sipping occasionally at her stolen cup of apple cider.
she does pause to dust some snow off of the pathway with her foot. look. she helped. wow. ]

[It's so weird that Eponine is no longer the only daughter of Hermes out here, and she's not sure how she feels about it. Before her, there seemed to only be sons, but, well, Hermes had seen fit to send them a daughter. Daughters, now.]

[ said with a light - almost flippant shrug and a widening of her eyes - slight, just enough to encourage a look of utter and complete innocence. she pauses to sip the cider. it isn't hot anymore, unfortunately, but she'll take lukewarm over anything. she keeps up the act for a moment before laughing - not necessarily at her half-sister (which is a strange feeling in itself, even unaware of circumstances at home), but at the situation. ]
Something tells me they're not going to miss my contribution.

[Minus that time she was stuck in the infirmary for a week or so going through terrible withdrawal. Not. Fun.]
In order for that snow to give someone frost bite, they'd have to be running around barefoot. It's not even cold enough for that. [Eponine here in her leather jacket and hoodie.]
no subject
Hey, what are they supposed to do to us as punishment, anyway? What, do they smite us or something?
no subject
Or just give you more chores like mucking out the stables.
no subject
You don't exactly seem worried yourself.
no subject
[Worry or fear.]
And they've already done their worst to me, so I really don't know what else they could throw at me.
no subject
I don't know. I hear there are a lot of perks to being an animal. [ because that's what she's going to take from that: eponine got turned into an animal. ]

You know, it'd be a lot easier for both of us if you'd just tell me what happened.
no subject
[She says darkly, her eyes narrowed somewhat. She doesn't like to talk about it.]
no subject
Intervention, huh? I guess congratulations are in order.

She just snorts from where she sits on a tree stump where she had been relacing her snow boots. ]
Don't let Annabeth catch you not doing shit.

[ she passes a glance over to natalie and crosses her arms as best she can with the purloined cider against her arm. the look on her face can be described as, at best, incredulous. they're all close to the same age, which means (at least to audrey) that they're all on the same level, authority-wise.
but then again, she's also used to the big leagues back home, so maybe that's an inaccurate estimate. ]
And what about you? Aren't you supposed to be grounding us, too?
no subject
[ People grow up here and, honestly, she was surprised to even find herself in a position of power anyway. "Power." Because she's pretty sure her siblings can walk all over her - or just tackle her to the ground, since they're the few people to find her basically harmless when it comes to them. ]
How's the cider?
no subject
Try it.
no subject
Thanks. [ Note to self as she hands it back to her: ] I need an apple cider machine in my cabin. I hear there's a hot cocoa machine in the works.
no subject
oh man. she really should probably not mention mundane things that are likely to remind her of certain people back home. certain tall fbi agents who swoop into town to solve her peer's murder and sit cheerily in her father's hotel dining room every morning. ]
no subject
[ It's a good thing soda and energy drinks are banned from camp, otherwise they'd run into some trouble. Besides, they've all got attention problems, being demigods and all, and too many sugar highs would inadvisable for an entire camp. ]
Though some kids have got the goblets to give them slurpees, so who knows?
no subject
[ because that's what's going on here, right? partially, at least. audrey's used to everything being a competition for attention in one way or another. ]
no subject
[ Obligatory eye rolling. Some people don't know what "moderation" means. Well, neither does Natalie but she tries to keep her own occasional self-destructive behavior behind closed doors. ]
no subject
What, do I pay you?
no subject
[ She gestures to the cup still in Audrey's hand. Maybe she likes showing off just a little bit, in small doses. ] You want me to turn that cider into coffee?
no subject
You can do that?
[ completely awestruck. don't worry; it's genuine. ]
Yeah, absolutely.
