You always talk about Loki in third person. But you are Loki. Does it make it easier somehow to deal with if you think of yourself in terms of a duality?

[She does snort delicately though.] Somehow I doubt you'd actually bring yourself to refer to me as your mother. I certainly wouldn't want you to.

[Artemis shrugs.]

I have yet to integrate him into my psyche as the same person, because quite frankly I don't think we are. I'm Artemis, and he is as he's always been. Quite frankly, I consider him a past life. If I'm to continue on with my life, then I will do so as Artemis Fowl, not Loki.

[He graces her with the hint of a smile.]

No, I'm perfectly happy with my current mother and father, no offense meant.

[Plus, he just got both of his parents back, so....]

None taken. [Her expression turns inquisitive.] Why can't you be both?

[She's come to realize the sense of completion she has, being Mary AND Frigga.]

We need Artemis and Loki. That's why we're here. But you don't have to be the Loki-that-Was. You can be Loki-Who-Is-Now, and Artemis is a very important part of that.

[Artemis has more trouble feeling that Loki and he are complete. It doesn't help that he doesn't follow his heart on such matters. He looks at it in a scientific way, and can't really reconcile with the idea.]

I have no problems using Loki's knowledge and memories to our advantage. You will have both in at least that capacity.

[He spreads his hands.]

But then you've got the little issue of Loki causing Ragnarok. I will admit that my family and I are not the most reputable of people, but I, personally, would not care to see the world's end. Perhaps if I gain more insight on Loki's side, I may feel differently.

[Unless he stops her, Mary calmly takes her hands and curls her fingers around his.]

Ragnarok has already happened. That's why we're here.

[She cocks her head, letting her fingers slide from his if he'd permitted it previously.]

Have you eaten an apple yet?

[There will be some discomfort, but he won't stop her. Being a team player is not Artemis' strong suit.]

I have. Not a pleasant memory resurfaced, I'm afraid. It was when Loki took things too far and had the Midgard-Serpent drip its venom into his eyes.

[He'd been caught off-guard at the pain he'd felt at the memory. Even now, Artemis feels an echo of that incident.]
longmayshereign: (pleasant)

It doesn't tend to be a pleasant memory, but I had wondered if the experience made you feel more...complete? For lack of a better word.

Not exactly, but that's just one memory out of an immortal's lifetime. Make no mistake, I am willing to learn from the past. I'm just not sure that I'm going to accept Loki as an intrinsic part of myself.
