[Amelia is just kind of staring helplessly at a bow and quiver of arrows. As a daughter of Apollo, she's supposed to be skilled with them, but it's hard to pick a target and shoot accurately when your mind's eye is being assaulted by potential visions of the future. She's small and fast, and someone should probably point out that she'd be better off with a dagger, but she's also extremely stubborn.

So she's just going to keep staring at this bow, like looking at it is going to magically grant her the ability to use it.]

[Part of being who she is is sizing up the competition, finding weakness and exploiting it in others and what better place to watch and learn than the arena? Getting in some practice while she's on the lookout doesn't hurt either.

Johanna wields her blade with ease, striking one of the targets repeatedly until she works up a fine sweat. It's only when she's taking a break that she notices someone near the archery range, and heads over to investigate.]

Keep staring at it, maybe it'll learn to shoot itself.

[Someone else might have registered the insult, but Amelia just keeps staring at the stupid weapon] That's what I'm hoping.

[She can't help but roll her eyes - ignoring her is a quick way to earn her ire - and while Amelia isn't quite doing that, the lack of eye contact is irritating enough.

But whatever, if she's not gonna pick it up, she will. Keep away, anyone?]

We might be demigods but I think animating inanimate objects is a little much. This isn't a Disney movie.

Hey! [What Amelia doesn't have in strength or skill, she makes up for in speed, her hand snapping out and grabbing the bow as Johanna does] This might not be Disney, but that isn't yours.

[ The Arena is pretty much the regular haunt of Ares kids, either training with themselves, helping other campers to get the hang of weapons they're simply innately familiar with, or starting shit with someone :T So suffice to say, Ben's seen Amelia standing over there for a good long while, death staring the bow. She's an Apollo kid, right? Shouldn't this be her thing?

Passing over, he cocks an eyebrow, a hand going through his hair to push the sweaty bits back (he was training okok its hot ) before hands just settled on his hips to watch for a second. Uh huh. ]

Is this some new zen kind of pre-training meditation crap you Apollo kids have started?

[foredoes]

[Amelia scowls, her frustration at her inability to deal with this weapon morphing into irritation at this guy] Yeah, I'm super Zen right now.

[kissmyass]

[ Raised brow. Uh huh. ] Yeah, you seem it. [ So Apollo kid either doesn't know how to use the bow or doesn't like it. Both are pretty weird. ] You need help with that?

[foredoes]

[Some of her antagonism fades at the offer, but she still looks dubious.] Aren't you an Ares kid?

[kissmyass]

[ He paces over, picking up the bow and looking it over. ] Yeah, so? You don't have to be an Apollo kid to know how to work a bow.

[foredoes]

[He hands snaps out, faster than he might have expected from her, grabbing the bow back.] I know that. I'm trying to figure out how likely it is that you're going to screw with me instead of actually helping.

[Enjolras has been watching her staring at the weapon for a good few minutes now before finally walking over. He may not be the best at archery, but he thought he'd offer.]

[Enjolras is, she supposes (technically) her half-brother. So he doesn't get the same wary reaction that Ben did. She lets herself be a little frazzled, looking up at him as he walks over] I don't know if it'll do any good, to be honest. I've always been terrible at this. I just feel like I...should know.

It still takes practice.

[He shrugs.]

It took me months until I could even hit the target.

[foredoes]

I practice! [She gestures a little helpfully] I just...come from the non-weapons side of the Apollo tree, I guess. [A beat, wherein she shoves a hand back through her hair, sighing] That didn't even make any sense. [8c]

I think I understand what you mean.

[He offers her a hopefully supportive smile.]

Have you tried other weapons though? I mean besides the boy.

[foredoes]

[There's a pause before she manages a small smile in return]

I - well. Yes. I have to be able to protect myself somehow. But I just - I want to be good at this one. [She sighs] Just staring at it probably isn't going to help at all.

Against her own preferences to weapons, Zoey decided to swap her sword for a bow as well as a quiver. She wasn't that good with it unfortunately yet, and that was when she spotted the older girl Amelia. "Trouble with the bow?" Zoey really could sympathize with that.

Amelia just sort of keeps up her staring contest with the weapon for now. "You know, I think it's more that it has a problem with me," she decides finally. "It's a personal issue. It's not me, it's...it." That sounds plausible, right?

Zoey didn't know whether to be embarassed at that line of thought or not. "Really. You know... not everyone is good with a bow."

[foredoes]

She huffs a little. "I know that. But I'm a daughter of Apollo. Apparently I should be able to do this with my eyes shut."

"I'm sure even a God had to practice with a wepaon before using it at first. You need help practicing?"
