THE DINING PAVILION

[We're serving lunch right now! Be sure to sit at your godly parent's table, or Hermes if you haven't been claimed yet. The menu includes barbecued meats, fruit and cheese, and any kind of non-alcoholic beverage you can think of.]

Octavian (Heroes of Olympus) - Augur of Camp Jupiter, Legacy of Apollo (ROMAN)

[Octavian's sitting alone at the edge of the Apollo cabin table, and he'd like to be left there, thank you very much.

It's bad enough that he had to lead a part of the Twelfth Legion away from their destroyed camp - even worse that he had to lead them here, of all places. But all the auguries pointed to it, every single strand of fiber-fil inside the stuffed animals he'd ripped apart told him no less. They'd even gotten specific instruction from Juno Moneta herself.

But the fact that he has to sit here, at the table for some bastardized version of his ancestor, while the Greeks mill about singing and writing poetry - that's what really gets him.]

[Well, consider Scott confused.

See, at Camp Jupiter, the divisions between campers were based on ranking, not family. You sat with your cohort at meals, regardless of godly ancestry, and they became your family. Though he would admit, he'd spent many weekends in the city of New Rome eating dinner with his mom. It was their tradition, a way of sticking together, and Scott liked to do it as often as his senior centurion would allow him.

But here, he was sitting at the Nike table - who was apparently similar to his grandma, Victoria, but a little different because she was Greek, and some other stuff too. At least, that's what he'd guessed. He didn't know, he's never met Victoria.

It was a little weird to see former members of his cohort spread across the dining pavilion, but what was that saying? When in Greece, do as the Greeks do.

Well, it didn't exactly go that way, but he figured the same sort of thing applied. So he digs into his ribs a little too eagerly.]

John Egbert (Homestuck) - Son of Jupiter (new camper entirely)

[It didn't look a whole lot different from school. Okay, so there was this weird Adventures of Hercules kind of feel to it, but it was a cafeteria. Sure, no big deal.]

[Man, that sure was a lot of people he just didn't know. Bluh. At least his table was empty. He wondered over to it and sat down. His plate is a delightful tray of everything but any kind of baked goods.]

THE CLIMBING WALL

Jill (All Superheroes Must Die) | Daughter of Nike

[Generally, Jill actually likes the wall, but she's standing in front of it today, arms crossed over her chest as she stares at it. As much as she likes to prove herself, there's a lot more lava today than she's used to, and she's thinking that maybe even good luck isn't going to save her from singed fingertips.]

[ There's a pretty blonde at the base of the climbing wall, touching up her lipgloss. Her hair smells like lava, but her purple shirt remains unsinged and she's looking pretty smug about it. From the way she looks up at it again, pocketing her compact and gloss, it looks like she's prepping herself for another go. ]

THE STRAWBERRY FIELDS

[Eat as many as you want, as long as there are enough for the Delphi Strawberry Service to send out to the markets. New Yorkers gotta eat!]

[ Casually lurking about the place eating strawberries by herself. Everyone needs to wind down, right? ]

[Secretly--or maybe not as secretly as he'd like to think--Balthazar is a lover of gardens. Any kind of flowering or fruiting plant is energizing. He's not actually eating much, as he sits among the berries, head tilted as if he's listening to them grow. Still, his fingertips are stained pink. He hasn't been idle, either.]

[Yun loves plants and animals and nature in general, so it's not really surprising that the strawberry fields have become one of her favorite places to hang out. She's surrounded by life here, flourishing and growing and producing delicious fruit. It's inspiring.

Should you venture out to the fields, you might find a tiny daughter of Apollo lying flat on her back, mindless of the fact that her clothes are filthy, with a bundle of strawberries beside her. Her eyes are closed, but she doesn't sleep. She's just happy to be out here, happy to be alive.]

Meetra Surik (Knights of the Old Republic) | Daughter of Athena

[The solitude of the strawberry fields appeals to Meetra, who often comes here. These days, the Athena Cabin seems to be a little bit more crowded than she usually likes. But it's not just that it's quiet and peaceful; she's kind of a huge fan of the strawberries as well. She sits on the ground in a meditative position, occasionally reaching out for a berry and eating it as she soaks up atmosphere. There's a worn out book next to her, but she's not really in the mood to read at the moment.]

Dave Strider (Homestuck) | Son of Janus

[Dave is eating strawberries, but not after playing with them first. Holding one in his hand he stares intently at it from behind his shades, and the air about it appears to bubble and bend inwards. The strawberry's colour darkens, the flesh softens and faint bruises blossom over it, followed quickly by grey fuzz indicative of rotting. Before the entire thing can disintegrate over his fingers the process is just as quickly reversed, returning the fruit to its previous, ripe state.

He huffs out a breath, turns it around to examine it, then takes a bite. This process has been distracting him for a while now - feel free to interrupt!]

Naomi Mikano (OC) - Daughter of Demeter

[Somewhere hidden among the rows of strawberries is the small form of a thirteen year old Naomi. She's taken to hiding in the fields, curling up and trying her best not to cry since she's arrived at Camp Half-Blood. Trying being the keyword.

Right now she's not all that successful, her face buried into her knees and her skinny shoulders trembling. She really doesn't want to be here. She doesn't want to be a demigod. She wants to be home with her family.

It doesn't help that if she did this back home - hid someplace to cry - Kou would always find her. He would appear, letting out a long suffering sigh before wiping her tears away and picking her up. But her big brother wasn't here now. Naomi was all by herself and the little girl just can't stop crying.]

Finding out that he was the son of a Greek god was one thing. Learning that he was finally getting to leave his stupid, boring hometown (yes!) to go to this camp for other kids like him for an indeterminate amount of time (double yes!) was another.

What he wasn't prepared for were the actual... real responsibilities of being at Camp Half-Blood. Like, there's no sprawling on the couch all day with your best friends playing video games for fourteen hours straight and your eyes burning from staring at the screen for too long. There's no wreaking havoc upon unsuspecting 7-Eleven employees just because one of them left their wallet at home and wanted a slurpee. Here, it's all... sword-fighting and honing your skills and all of this crap and all he wants to do is sleep in for once, really.

The absolute last thing he wants to be doing right now is picking strawberries, like he's supposed to. It's his obligation, as a Dionysus kid -- he's not even going to get into how mad that whole thing makes him - the whole actually having a real dad thing. It's whatever.

But he's trying to be on his best behavior. What other choice does he have?

That doesn't mean he can't let out an agitated groan as he picks yet another strawberry. )

VOLLEYBALL COURT

[For some bizarre reason, demigods love volleyball. Try not to get hit in the face.]

Silena bounces the volleyball a few times with the heels of her palms, careful not to send the ball flying too far. It's a casual game she wants, as she's rarely competitive, especially when it comes to games around camp.

Mostly, she's waiting for someone who is up for a few hits back and forth. Though if a game rises from the occasion, she's in a playful enough mood that she wouldn't say no.

Johanna Mason ( The Hunger Games) - Daughter of Ares

[Johanna isn't the kind to mess around when it comes to games, even less so when she's ready for a good game and a chance to relieve some pent up aggression. In any case, if you're on the court or even anywhere near it, she might try to provoke you into a game - whether that involves her spiking the ball at your face depends on how many times you say no.]

THE FORGES

[Now Hiccup was more used to Gobber's garage back in Berk, but the Forges were a nice replacement for his favourite hideaway. Even if he wasn't a son of Hephaestus or Vulcan, he was quick to pick up the processes during his first few months here at the camp. Just because he was supposedly Loki didn't mean that he wasn't smart.

Unfortunately it seems like Loki's tendency to get into trouble carried over into this life as well.

Hey, hey, Hephaestus kids. Your Forge is on fire. Literally.]

THE CANOE LAKE

[A favorite hangout of children of Poseidon as well as anyone feeling particularly competitive.]

Athelstan (Vikings) - Soul Piece of Saga

[The lake seemed like the best place, initially, to go. It’s certainly the quietest, and quiet is exactly what Athelstan needs right now. He’s only been at the camp for a few weeks now, but there’s still so much to digest. Things he’s not sure he wants to believe.

This is the first time he’s had a chance to slip away from Ragnar and Lagertha, though he knows in a little while he’ll get up to look for them or they’ll find him. They seem to be adjusting better to the camp. Though that’s not much of a surprise.

He sighs, looking out at the lake, fingers idly moving from bead to bead on his rosary.]

ARTS AND CRAFTS CABIN

[So you know those woven lanyard keychains you used to make at summer camp? Yeah, Chiron has enough of the plastic cord you use to make that to wrap around the Earth three times.]

[Someone looks too serious for his own good. Michael is seated on the floor in a corner of the cabin with his sketchbook, quietly scratching away at the paper with a light touch and a thin charcoal pencil.

THE ARENA

She doesn't particularly enjoy swordsplay. After all, children of Aphrodite had better things to do with their time, but Cosette seems to be one of the more responsible girls of her ilk, dutifully training with a lighter sword.

Cosette has arrived to the training session early, busy polishing the front of her armor and the sword itself, careful not to cut herself on the blade.
