The Test Drive Meme

Skye (OC) - Daughter of Nike

[She loves the arts and crafts cabin! It's the only place where Skye feels like she's actually doing something right. At the moment she's covered in paint, her blue hoodie (a constant, normally seen tied around her waist on warm days) spread out on the table in front of her as she paints new words on it.]

Zoey was not into the craft part of arts and crafts, though she did enjoy it a little. She was observing another girl older than her, who was paiting on a shirt. Skye, meet your new half-sister.

"Impressive. That's with more skill than I have."

[Skye didn't expect anyone to actually talk to her, she somewhat perfected being invisible. So when she hears the voice directed at her she jumps, jerking her paintbrush so that it leaves a purple streak against the blue fabric where she'd been writing the word 'change'.

A blush rises on her cheeks as she looks up. She recognizes the girl from the cabin, so she must be her half-sister. Something that's still odd seeing that Skye had thought herself to be an only child until about a year ago.]

I-It's not really a skill... I mean it's just writing words...

[She fidgets with the paint brush, ducking her head.]

Zoey chuckled a bit at the other girl's shyness. "It's art. Not everyone has that sort of talent." She replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

"I think I've seen you before at the dining hall. Daughter of Nike right?"

Deciding it's not worth getting into an arguement with her half-sister, Zoey let the subject drop.

"Yeah, I've only been here a few months though. I'm Zoey."

Zoey was a bit surprised at that revelation. "A year? Wow." Zoey was far from being cold to most people provided you were not jerks. But she was not used to having siblings.

With alight forced grin, Zoey turned to Skye. "Yeah I guess that's true. That feels a little weird to me. The fact that we have the same birth-mother."

It's a lot weird for me.

[She giggles, covering her mouth with her hand.]

Sorry! What I mean is that, well, I'm an only child back home. So it's weird to think that suddenly there are a lot of half-siblings.

[She trails off, hoping that she hasn't been rambling.]

An-And yeah. I mean. A "year". I only come for the summer but my first summer was last year so...

[Okay, she was rambling.]

Zoey couldn't help but laugh at that. "Believe me, I know the feeling. I'm an only child back home too. Maybe it's a theme with our mother. I haven't really talked to a lot of people in Camp Half Blood since I arrived."
