Counselor. [She likes the sound of centurion better, though. That actually sounds a little bit more fierce.

She flicks a comforting smile his way.] It is pretty weird. I'm not surprised, though. [A beat.] Yeah, Nike doesn't exactly have a whole brood running around. I wasn't even claimed until after Percy told the gods off. We have to stick together, right?

Counselor, right. Yeah, I guess that makes sense, it seems like that's what they call the leaders at mortal Boy Scout camps and stuff like that.

[He gives her a nod, cheeks puffed out and full of rib meat. Scott is wholly enjoying himself.]

Yeah! Um, even if I don't know much about your side. I guess now's a good time to figure that stuff out.

[Jill honestly doesn't know whether to laugh at that or feel a little insulted. She runs her fingers through her fauxhawk, giving him a look.] Did you just compare us to the Boy Scouts?

[Really, son.]

We don't know much about you guys, either. But you know, we're good people. Nice. Don't let anyone give you shit. If they do, tell me. [He might be weird and Roman, but he's one of hers.]

Yeah! Um, sorry. Scout camp was the only one I'd been to before Camp Jupiter, so it's kind of a frame of reference for me.

[He laughs, a little nervously - god, Jill is intimidating, and the fact that her mohawk makes her look like a tough biker chick that could pulverize him doesn't help. He hopes he can get used to this.]

Yeah, I'll do that. So what do you guys do here when you're not training for battle?

[He'd heard Camp Half-Blood - Greeks in general, really - were a lot more lax on the whole constant vigilance thing than his home camp.]

[She shakes her head, grinning a bit. Okay, sure, she'll give him that.] Yeah, I guess it's a little like that. Except, you know, we train to fight monsters, not walk little old ladies across the street.

[She's quiet for a moment as she chews on a carrot stick.] Hang out. We have frequent campfires where the camp gets together to do sing-alongs. Capture the Flag. Arts and crafts are pretty fun. Sometimes we pitch in to help collect the strawberries to ship them. Think of it like a real summer camp, except campers carry around weapons and fight each other.
